This page explains you how to travel from Macau to Xiamen in Fujian Province with high speed trains via the Zhuhai Railway Station and Gongbei Port.

Macau Railway Station

Macau Train Station (澳门站)? No, there is no a railway station in Macau curretly. Macau is not yet connected into China mainland’s high speed rail network, but that doesn’t mean you can not arrive at Macau by high speed train. Actually, a lot of passengers are using Zhuhai Railway Station, which is located north of Macau and close to the Gongbei Port for entering Macau from mainland China. Macau – Xiamen by High Speed Train

The best route to travel from Macau to Xiamen by train is via Guangzhou or Shenzhen. As there is no a train station in Macau, passengers have to go to Zhuhai Railway Station via Gongbei Port first, then take a train to Guangzhou or Shenzhen, then another connecting high speed train to Xiamen. Since there is no direct trains linking Macau or Zhuhai with Xiamen, the best way to travel from Macau to Xiamen is the route 1: Macau (Zhuhai) – Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Xiamen, which provides you more trains with flexibility.

From Macau to Xiamen: Just go from Macau to Zhuhai Railway Station through Gongbei Port first. A taxi ride from Macau to Gongbei Port takes around 15-20 minutes. In Gongbei Port, the immigration check crossing will take you about 1 hour or so. Once you are on Zhuhai side, just walk to the nearby Zhuhai Railway Station from where there are frequent high speed trains to Guangzhou South Station (check live train times), taking about 1 hour, then transit to a connecting high speed train to Shenzhen North Station (Shenzhenbei, check Guangzhou to Shenzhen train times), taking 45 minutes. From Shenzhen North ,there are frequent train services to Xiamen, most of which are arriving at Xiamen North Railway Station with several trains terminating at Xiamen Railway Station (Check Shenzhen to Xiamen train timetable), taking 3 hours.

From Xiamen to Macau: Just ride trains and make transfers on this route: Xiamen North / Xiamen to Shenzhen North to Guangzhou South to Zhuhai Railway Station to Gongbei Port to Macau. You need about an hour to pass through both China and Macau immigration and the security check. From Gongbei Port, you can enter Macau via a taxi in 15 – 20 minutes.

Route 2: Macau (Zhuhai) – Guangzhou South – Xiamen North by train

From Macau to Xiamen: There is no direct trains linking Macau or Zhuhai with Xiamen, and you just have to make a transfer at Guangzhou South Station. Just go from Macau to Zhuhai Railway Station through Gongbei Port first. A taxi ride from Macau to Gongbei Port takes around 15-20 minutes. In Gongbei Port, the immigration check crossing will take you about 1 hour or so. The trains from Guangzhou to Xiamen are arriving at Xiamen North Railway Station (check live train schedule), taking 4 hour or so.

From Xiamen to Macau: The trains to Guangzhou South Railway Station (Guangzhounan) are departing from Xiamen North Railway Station (Xiamenbei). So you just take Line 1 to Xiamen North Station first, then ride one of the two daily fast trains from Xiamen North to Guangzhou South (check Xiamen to Guangzhou train), taking 4 hours, then transfer to an intercity train from Guangzhou South to Zhuhai Railway Station, which is close to Gongbei Port. You need about an hour to pass through both China and Macau immigration and the security check. From Gongbei Port, you can enter Macau via a taxi in 15 – 20 minutes.

How to Buy Train Tickets

1. Buy online with official China Railway 12306

12306 China Railway is China’s only official online train ticketing platform, where you can check the real-time train schedule, booking rail tickets and managing your rail journey within every part of mainland China and Hong Kong. It has launched English version website since November of 2020, allowing foreign travelers to book tickets directly with their passports and credit cards.

2. Buy tickets with online ticket agents

3. Buy tickets at train station

You can also buy train tickets in person at any train station in China with your passports and cash. Don’t expect any spoken English in the stations. In Zhuhai, you can buy the domestic train tickets in Zhuhai Railway Station. In Changsha, you can buy in
Xiamen North Railway Station or Xiamen Railway Station.
