Guilin – Sanjiang by Train
It is possible to travel between Guilin and Sanjiang by high speed trains in 30 – 40 minutes since the openning of Guiyang – Guangzhou High Speed Railway in 2014. The moder, air-conditioned high speed trains CRH2A (Bullet train, D-category) has replaced the old slow K type trains as passengers’ first transport option for this rail route. Currently, there are 18 trains daily running between Guilin and Sanjiang, most of which are hgh speed trains (Using Guilin West or Guilin or Guilin North to Sanjiang South). Only one slow K trains (K651) runs from Guilin to Sanjiang County Railway Station.

2. Making a Transfer to Zhangjiajie or Fenghuang via Sanjiang
Sanjiang serves as an important transfer point for those who want to travel to Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang from Guilin by train, as there are no trains linking Guilin with Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang directly. Passengers need to get from Guilin to Sanjiang (by D train or K train) first, then catch the slow trains from Sanjiang to Zhangjiajie (train 2012, or K748 using Sanjiang County Railway Station) or to Huaihua (for transfer to Fenghuang). Options are listed below:
- Option 1: Guilin to Sanjiang by high speed train (D train using Sanjiang South)- Transfer from Sanjiang South to Sanjiang County Station – Slow Train from Sanjiang to Zhangjiajie or Huaihua (For Fenghuang).
- Option 2: Guilin to Sanjiang by Ktrain (Using Sanjiang County)- Slow Train from Sanjiang to Zhangjiajie or Huaihua (For Fenghuang, read the page: Guilin to Fenghuang).

Guilin – Sanjiang by K Train
The k train is too slow to recommend to use. The only advantage is that you can take the K train from Guilin to Sanjiang County Station directly, where you catch your next train to Zhangjiajie directly. No transfer is required.
