Leshan and Emeishan are linked with Chengdu and the airport hub Shuangliu Airport Train Station by intercity high speed trains (C trains) on the Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan Intercity Railway since December of 2014. You can travel from Chengdu or Shuangliu Airport to Leshan for visiting Giant Buddha in 1.5 hours, and to Emeishan for hiking Mount Emeishan in around 1 hour 40mins with frequent C type high speed train services.

Stations along the Route

The high speed trains linking Chengdu, Shuangliu Airport, Leshan and Emeishan run on Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan Intercity Railway, which include stations of Jiangyou, Qinglian, Mianyang, Luojiang East, Deyang, Guanghan North, Qingbaijiang East, Xindu East, Chengdu East, Chengdu South, Shuangliu Airport, Shuangliu West, Xinjin, Xinjin South, Pengshan North, Meishan East, Qingshen, Leshan, and Emeishan.

Departures from Chengdu

Chengdu has 4 train stations for passenger service, but the high speed trains running between Chengdu and Leshan and Emeishan are using either Chengdu East Railway Station or Chengdu South Railway Station, both of which are connected to the city metro system. Chengdu East can be reached by metro line 2 at East Railway Station metro stop, while Chengdu South can be reached by metro line 1 and the future line 7 and line 18.

Chengdu to Leshan by Train  Book Online

There are around 16 daily high speed trains running from Chengdu to Leshan with 11 departures from Chengdu East Railway Station and 5 from Chengdu South Railway Station, taking 1 hour – 1hr 20mins to cover the 135 km journey, and costing from 51-54 yuan for a second class seat. You can choose to depart from either station depending on which one is more close to you and which train suits your schedule.

Your high speed trains from Chengdu will stop at Leshan Railway Station, the high speed train station in Leshan (the other one Leshan North Station or called Leshan bei is a station for slower trains).

Chengdu to Emeishan by Train  Book Online

The town of Emeishan, where the sacred Mt Emeishan is located, is around 168km from Chengdu City. You can travel from Chengdu to Emeishan by C trains: 10 trains departing from Chengdu East & 2 from Chengdu South daily. A single rail journey will take you about 1h20m – 1h40m and cost from 62-65 for a 2nd class seat. The bullet train from Chengdu will stop at Emeishan Railway Station (峨眉山站), the high speed train station in Emeishan Town, which is more close to Mt Emeishan compared to the other old train station called Emei Railway Station (峨眉站), which serves only slower trains.

Departures from Shuangliu Airport

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) is the largest airport in southwest China, also the hub for travelers fly in or out of Sichuan. It is linked with Chengdu, Leshan and Emeishan by the C type high speed trains since december of 2014 when Shuangliu Airport Train Station, the Airport-Rail link system began operation. The Shuangliu Airport Train Station is in the undergound of the airport terminal 2, from where travelers can travel by high speed train from Shuangliu Airport to Chengdu East Station and Chengdu South Station in 10-15 minutes, to Leshan Railway Station in 1 hour, and to Emeishan Railway Station in 70 minutes.

Note: Shuangliu Airport Station is printed as ShuangliuJichang on Chinese rail ticket.  Shuangliu Airport = Shuangliu Jichang, or Shuangliu Ji Chang 

Shuangliu Airport to Leshan by Train  Book Online

There are 10 C category high speed trains daily running from Shuangliu Airport Train Station to Leshan Railway Station. Journey time is from 50 minutes to 1hour 10minutes, and the cost is 46 yuan for a second class seat, 55 in first class seat and 106 for a business class seat. The train will stop at Leshan Railway Station.

Shuangliu Airport to Emeishan by Train  Book Online

7 C type high speed trains run from Shuangliu Airport Train Station to Emeishan Railway Station in 50 – 70 minutes. The ticket fare is from 56 in a second class seat. The Shuangliu airport to Emeishan high speed trains will past Leshan Railway Station. Just catch a train to Leshan or Emeishan from airport terminal 2 when you are landing at Shuangliu Airport.

The City of Leshan, where the Giant Buddha is located, has tow train stations for passenger service: Leshan Railway Station for high speed train service and Leshan North Railway Station (Leshan Bei) for slower train service. Your trains from or to Chengdu, Leshan and Shuangliu Airport are using Leshan Railway Station.

Leshan to Chengdu by Train  Book Online

The fastest way also most comforatble way to travel from Leshan to Chengdu is using a high speed train. Thereare 17 high speed trains daily running from Leshan Railway Station to Chengdu, with 12 trains arriving at Chengdu East, and 5 trains arriving at Chengdu South. A one way ticket cost you from 51 yuan in a second class seat. Journey time is 50-80 minutes.

Leshan to Emeishan by Train  Book Online

After visiting the Giant Buddha, you should not miss hiking on the sacred Emeishan Mountain in Emeishan Town. Just catch one of the 11 daily high speed trains from Leshan Railway Station to Emeishan Railway Station in around 15 minutes. A ticket for second class seat is 11 yuan.

Leshan to Shuangliu Airport by Train  Book Online

After visiting Giant Buddha in Leshan, you can travel by train directly from Leshan to Shuangliu Airport, from where to fly out of Sichuan or to other major cities in China. No need to trackback to Chengdu first, just catch one of the 12 daily high speed trains from Leshan Railway Station to Shuangliu Airport Train Station. The Shuangliu Airport Station serving as Airport-Rail link system, is located underground of terminal 2.

Departures from Emeishan  Book Online

Emeishan Town, where is the base for hiking Emeishan Moutain, is accessable via slow train or high speed train. It has two train stations for passenger service: Emeishan Railway Station, which is a high speed station used by Chengdu-Shuangliu Airport-Leshan high speed trains, and Emei Railway Station, used by slow trains from Panzhihua, Xichang, Kunming, Guangtong North, Shijiazhuang, Beijing, Zhengzhou, etc. Just be noted that Emeishan Railway Station is more close to Mt Emeishan.

Emeishan to Chengdu by Train  Book Online

After climbing Mt Emeishan, just go back to Emeishan Railway Station, where to catch one of 12 daily C type high speed trains to Chengdu East Station or Chengdu South Station. But More trains stop at Chengdu East Station. The rail journey time is 1hour to 1h40mins and the ticket fare is from 62 in a second class seat.

Emeishan to Leshan by Train  Book Online

Leshan is about 35km from Emeishan Town. You can travel between Emeishan and Leshan using a high speed train from Emeishan Railway Station to Leshan Railway Station.

Emeishan to Shuangliu Airport by Train  Book Online

You can travel directly from Emeishan Railway Station to Shuangliu Airport. Just hop onboard one of the 8 daily high speed trains linking Emeishan Railway Station to Shuangliu Airport Railway Station, where you will reach the airport terminal 2 when getting off the train. Then, catch your flights out of Sichuan or China.
