I did the bus trip from Zhangjiajie West Station to Wulingyuan & Wulingyuan to Zhangjiajie Zhongxin Bus Station (next to Zhangjiajie Railway Station), and visit Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Forest Park and Tianmenshan Forest Park in August of 2020. Zhangjiajie West Railway Station – Wulingyuan by Bus

Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (ZhangjiajieXi) is a newly opened train station north of Zhangjiajie City with high speed train service to or from Changsha Railway Station Line 2 Line 3 (Changsha to Zhangjiajie by train). In May of 2020, Zhangjiajie West Railway Station has launched bus services to or from Wulingyuan Bus Station, which is just 1 kilometers from Wulingyuan National Forest Park’s entrance gate. The buses departs from Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Station (next to Zhangjiajie West) and arrive at Wulingyuan Bus Station in just 40 minutes.

Step by Step Guide:

1. Arriving Zhangjiajie West from Changsha by Bullet Train

I took the high speed train C8085 from Changsha Railway Station ( Line 2 Line 3 )  at 08:00 and arrived at  Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (ZhangjiajieXi) at 11:11, taking 3h11m. The ticket fare is CNY 99 for a second class seat per person. (Just check live schedule & ticket availability at  China Highlights & China DIY Travel (Promo code: ct123).

2. Go to Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Station

Just find the Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Terminal (bus station, also the tourism distribution center) when exiting Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, and it is just right next to the train station.

3. Buy Bus Tickets at Ticket Windows

Foreign travellers can buy bus tickets to Wulingyuan Bus Station at the ticket windows. There are also some ticket kiosks but they are offered in Chinese and only accept Chinese ID card and Alipay or WeChat Payments. Most Chinese will use these kiosks to buy tickets. So you don’t need to worried wating in a long line to buy tickets. A ticket to Wulingyuan costs only CNY13 per person.

4. Get Into Waiting Hall

After buying bus tickets, you just pass the security check and luggage check, then your arrive at the waiting hall. The buses to Wulingyuan departs every 10 – 30 minutes or when full. Just show your tickets to the staff that your are about to catch a bus to Wulingyuan, so that they sometimes will inform you to check in when the buses arrive.

5. Check in the Bus

The ticket gate opens 10 minutes prior to bus departures.

In fact, these buses are departing from Zhangjiajie Zhongxin Bus Station (central: 张家界中心汽车站), which is next to Zhangjiajie Railway Station and calling at Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Station (next to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station), and finally arriving at Wulingyuan Bus Station (ZJJ Zhongxin – ZJJ West – Wulingyuan).

6. Arriving at Wulingyuan Bus Terminal

Our bus arrived at Wulingyuan Bus Station, and it took just about 40 – 45 minutes from Zhangjiajie West Railway Station. From here, it is just a one-kilometer walk to Wulingyuan National Forest Park Entrance. But we just went to our hostel and had a good rest first.

7. Getting to Wulingyuan Forest Park Entrance

The next morning, we went to Wulingyuan Forest Park Entrance from our hostel, and visited Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Suoxi Valley, Tianzishan, Yangjiajie attractions etc.
