Introduction

Traveling from Hong Kong West Kowloon to Huangshan North by high-speed train involves transferring stations due to the absence of direct trains. Passengers have two primary options: a quicker route with a transfer at Shangrao Train Station  (although with less frequency) or a route with a transfer at Shenzhen North, which offers more train options.

Since there are no direct trains, below are the composite schedules for both transfer options:

1. Via Shenzhen – More Trains

The best route to travel from Hong Kong to Huangshan is via Shenzhen North by train. Shenzhen North operates frequent high speed trains to or from Hong Kong West Kowloon, and 3 daily bullet trains to or from Huangshan North.

2. Via Shangrao – Shortest Duration, 1 Daily

If you opt for a transfer in Shangrao Train Station (Hong Kong – Shangrao – Huangshan), it provides you the shortest route & duration.

Which Train Stations in Huangshan

If you want to travel by train to Huangshan, you need to know that there are three train stations in Huangshan City:

Among them, Huangshan North Station and Huangshan West Station are high-speed train stations, while Huangshan Station is a old train station for slow trains. Huangshanxi Station is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2024.

Huangshan North – Tangkou by Bus

From Huangshan North Station to Tangkou, you can take the bus from the nearby Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub, which runs from 8:00 to 20:20 every day, every 30 minutes in peak season and every hour in low season, the fare is 23 yuan per person, and the journey takes 50 minutes.

From Tangkou to Huangshan North Station, you can take the bus from Tangkou Transfer Center, which runs from 8:30 to 19:10 every day, the fare is 23 yuan per person, and the journey takes 45 minutes.

 Which Train Station in Hong Kong

Hong Kong West Kowloon Station is currently the only train station that operates high speed trains to Guangzhou South & Guangzhou East. The other original Hum Hom Station no longer operates through train services to Guangzhou East. So, HK West Kowloon is your only opertion. You can take the MTR to the West Kowloon Station. Immigration & Customs Procedures at Hong Kong West Kowloon

Hong Kong West Kowloon Station is a joint checkpoint between Hong Kong and mainland China, which means that border control and immigration procedures for both Hong Kong and mainland China are conducted in one place in Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. So prepare for all necessary travel documents like passports and visas at hand and allow surfficient time for the immigration and customs procedures for both Hong Kong and Manland sides.

How much time do I need to clear immigration at West Kowloon Station

It is advised to arrive at the West Kowloon Station at least 45 minutes before your departure time, as you need to go through both the Hong Kong Port and the Mainland Port on the same floor of the station. The immigration process may take longer during peak hours or holidays, so you should plan ahead and allow enough time for clearance.

Boarding Tips and Procedures

Make sure to arrive at the train station early enough before departure time to allow for ticket checks, immigration and custom procedures, security checks and boarding. You will need to present your passport and train ticket for verification before boarding the train.

Visa to Mainland China

You need a visa to enter mainland China if you are taking a train from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. While most passports are granted visa on arrival for Hong Kong, you’ll still  need a visa to enter mainland China. Just apply it in advance.
