Gone are those days when you have to ride a slow overnight sleeper train to travel between Shenzhen and Guilin. Now it is possible to ride a direct high speed train to travel between since the operation of Guiyang – Guangzhou High Speed Railway in December 2014. See the options below:

Direct High Speed Trains
Currently, there are 3 high speed trains daily operating between Shenzhen and Guilin using Shenzhen North and Guilin North as the departure or arrival station.
- Train type: G train (300 km/h), high speed.
- CRH type: CRH380A and CRH380B (CRH trains).
- Seat class: 1st, 2nd cls, VIP cls.
- High spee rail: Guiyang – Guangzhou High Speed Railway (links Guiyang, Guilin and Guangzhou), and Guangzhou – Shenzhen – Hong Kong Express Rail Link (links Guangzhou and Shenzhen)

Compared with 3 direct high speed trains from Shenzhen to Guilin, Guangzhou has 5 direct high speed trains daily to Guilin (see Guangzhou – Guilin High Speed Train page). So, if all the 3 direct high speed trains from Shenzhen to Guilin sell out, you may travel from Shenzhen to Guangzhou (From Futian Station or Shenzhen North to Guangzhou South) first, then a connecting train from Guangzhou to Guilin. How to Buy Train Tickets Online Ticket
Chinese train ticket sales open 60 days (sometimes 30 day depending on its policy) in advance, and you can buy it online at 12306.cn if you read Chinese or use a online agent.
Normal Overnight Sleeper Trains
I don’t think it is practical way to travel Guilin and Shenzhen using the slow overnight sleeper trains as it is not cheap and the journey time is too long.

How do I get to Yangshuo from Guilin? If I take the high speed tgrain from SZ to Guilin? I don’t want the Li River tour
Hi, if you take the high speed train from Shenzhen, your train will arrive at Guilin North Railway Station. Then, you need to transfer to Guilin Bus Station, where there are lots of buses to Yangshuo.
You can get from Guilin North train station to Guilin bus station by the public bus 100 (get off at Qichezhan 汽车站 namely Guilin Bus Station), which takes 30-40 mins and costs 2 yuan.
You can also take a taxi to Guilin bus station.
Yangshuo is between Shenzhen and Guilin. And if you want to go from Shenzhen to Yangshuo directly, you can travel on this route: Shenzhen north to Guangzhou South to Yangshuo, then bus from Yangshuo to Guilin. First take a high speed train from Shenzhen North to Guangzhou South, then a connecting bullet train to Yangshuo directly.
