There are no direct high speed trains linking Yangshuo and Zhangjiajie, but you can travel on this high speed rail route: Yangshuo – Guilin North – Changsha South – Changsha Station – Zhangjiajie West:

Step 1: Yangshuo – Guilin by High Speed Train

• Station used: Yangshuo Railway Station,Guilin North Railway Station (Guilinbei)

Yangshuo Railway Station is far from Yangshuo Town (West Street), and you can get there by public bus or take a taxi. A bus ride will take 45 minutes. It has bullet trains to or from Guilin Station, Guilin North and Guilin West, but you’d better choose Guilin North as all high speed trains to or from Changsha South are using Guilin North.

Step 2: Guilin North – Changsha South by Bullet Train

• Station used:Guilin North Railway Station (Guilinbei), Changsha South Railway Station (Changshanan)

All high speed trains between Changsha and Guilin are using Changsha South and Guilin North. But just remember that the bullet trains to or from Zhangjiajie West Railway Station are using Changsha Railway Station. You need to trasfer between Changsha South & Changsha Station by metro line 2.

Step 3: Changsha South – Changsha Station by Metro Line 2

From Changsha South to Changsha Station : If you are going from Changsha South to Changsha Railway Statin by metro, and want to catch the high speed train to Zhangjiajie West, you can take the metro line 2 from South Railway Station to Railway Station. But Jack would recommend you to get off at Jintai Square (South Railway Station to Jintai Square) and exit station through EXIT 4, which is just 20 meters from the station. If you get off at Railway Station, you will have to walk about 10 minutes to get the the platforms for high speed trains to Zhangjiajie West.

There are two station buildings in Changsha Railway Station, one is for high speed trains (near Jintai Square)and the other one is for normal trains (near Railway Station stop).

From Changsha Station to Changsha South : After your high speed train from Zhangjiajie West arrive at Changsha Railway Station, you just exit the train station and find the metro line 2 at Jintai Square Station (just 20 meters from train station) to Changsha South Railway Station.

Step 4: Changsha – Zhangjiajie West by Bullet Train

• Reference:Changsha to Zhangjiajie, Changsha to Zhangjiajie bullet train
• Station used: Changsha Railway Station, Zhangjiajie West Station (ZhangjiajieXi)

Changsha Railway Station has 20 – 28 daily high speed trains to or from Zhangjiajie West, taking 3-3.5 hours.

Step 5 Zhangjiajie West – Wulingyuan Forest Park by Bus

Your trip to Zhangjiajie is not completed without a visit to Wulingyuan National Forest Park. But many travelers don’t know how to travel between Wulingyuan Park and Zhangjiajie West Station. Jack did this trip in August, 2020. So I will share my experience.

There are bus linking Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Terminal (next to Zhangjiajie West) and Wulingyuan Bus Station in just 40 minutes, and the ticket fare is CNY 13. The last bus departs at 18:00. You will find bus terminal is located on the right side when you exit Zhangjiajie West Station. The bus departs when full.
