How to Travel between Hong Kong & Wuzhou

Wuzhou South Railway Station (Wuzhounan) is the only train station in Wuzhou with high speed train service. It has high speed trains to or from Guangzhou South, Foshan West, Humen,Shenzhen North and Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. There is only one daily running between Wuzhou South and Hong Kong West Kowloon. But if you make a transfer at Guangzhou South or Shenzhen North, you will find more trains.

1: Hong Kong West Kowloon – Wuzhou South, 1 Daily Direct Train

From Hong Kong to Wuzhou : As of August of 2020, there is only one daily running between Hong Kong and Wuzhou. The G418 high speed train departs from Hong Kong West Kowloon at 15:33, passing through Shenzhen North, Humen, Guangzhou South, Foshan West and arrives at Wuzhou South Railway Station at 18:01, taking 2h28m. From Wuzhou South, you can connect to a public bus to Wuzhou city center, taking about 20-30 minutes.

From Wuzhou to Hong Kong: There is only one daily direct high speed train running from Wuzhou to Hong Kong. G417 leaves Wuzhou South at 12:45 daily, and reaches Hong Kong West Kowloon at 15:13. The total journey time is about 2h28m.

If you miss the direct trains G417/G418, you have another route options by making a transfer at Guangzhou South or Shenzhen North.

2: Hong Kong West Kowloon – Guangzhou South – Wuzhou South

Actually, the best way to travel between Hong Kong and Wuzhou is travel by train via Guangzhou, as there are many trains linking Guangzhou with Wuzhou and Hong Kong.

HK to Wuzhou via Guangzhou: Take one of the numerous high speed trains from Hong Kong West Kowloon to Guangzhou South first, then connect to a high speed train to Wuzhou South (58 trains daily, 1h40m ). Just allow about 30 minutes for making the connections.

Wuzhou to HK via Guangzhou: Take a bus or taxi from Wuzhou city center to Wuzhou South Railway Station first, then hop-on one of the high speed trains from Wuzhou to Guangzhou South, from which there are many bullet trains to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.

3: Hong Kong West Kowloon – Shenzhen North – Wuzhou South

If you miss the direct train G417 / G418 between HK and Wuzhou, you can also consider this route: Hong Kong West Kowloon – Shenzhen North – Wuzhou South. There are a lot of bullet trains linking HK West Kowloon and Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei), and 4 daily high speed trains linking Shenzhen North and Wuzhou South.

Wuzhou – Hong Kong Airport by Train

Hong Kong Airport, as a transport hub in South China, is an ideal port for exit China. If you want to travel from Wuzhou to Hong Kong Airport, you can take the direct high speed train G417 from Wuzhou South to Hong Kong West Kowloon first or travel by train via Guangzhou (Wuzhou South – Guangzhou South – HK West Kowloon) to HK West Kowloon first, then walk to Kowloon MTR Station to catch the airport express train to HKG Airport (See Hong Kong Airport – HK West Kowloon Station by airport express).

How to Buy Tickets

You can buy tickets yourself at any stations in Wuzhou or HK West Kowloon with your passports. But if you don’t speak Chinese, you may use a trusted online ticket agent.

When to buy tickets

Both China & Hong Kong train tickets go on sale online 30 days in advance or go on sale at train station 28 days in advance.

You can buy tickets with your passports at train station in HK West Kowloon Station or any train stations in Wuzhou,etc. Or you can buy tickets online with a trusted online ticket agent, or Hong Kong MTR official site or www.12306.cn (the official Chinese train ticket booking platform, which is only in Chinese).

In Hong Kong: You can buy tickets with passports at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station,where there are 23 ticket counters selling Cross Boundary Tickets and 5 designated counters selling Mainland Domestic Tickets. The 5 desinated counters will charge you additional service fees. There are also ticket kiosks there but they don’t accept foreigner passports.

In Wuzhou : buy in any train stations close to you.
