Wenzhou, a famous manufacture city in Zhejiang Province in China is just about 1200 kilometers northeast of Hong Kong. Passengers can travel between Hong Kong and Wenzhou by high speed train or flight.

There is no direct trains running between Hong Kong and Wenzhou, If you’re travelling by a bullet train, you will have to make a transfer at Shenzhen North Station (HK West Kowloon – Shenzhen North – Wenzhou South).

By flight: Flight is far more faster than a high speed train, but it can be expersive and an uncertain option as it may get often delayed or sometimes cancelled in China. If you are in a rush, then opt for a plane.

By bullet train: Chinese high speed trains are punctual, fast, smooth and comfortable with spacious leg room and air-condition. The high speed trains run frequently between Hong Kong West Kowloon & Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei), as well as Shenzhen North  & Wenzhou South (Wenzhounan), which are fairly cheap and reliable.

  • Step 1. Hong Kong – Shenzhen North by train (20 mins, 94 daily)
  • Step 2. Shenzhen North – Wenzhou South by D train (7 hrs, 10 daily)

Hong Kong – Wenzhou via Shenzhen by Train

As of April, 2023, there are no direct trains linking Wenzhou with Hong Kong yet. Passengers will have to make a transfer at Shenzhenbei (Shenzhen North).

From Hong Kong to Wenzhou: Just take one of the frequent high speed trains from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Shenzhen North Station first, taking just 20 minutes. In Shenzhen, just remember to allow 35 minutes at least for making the transfer. Then, catch one of the 10 daily D type high speed trains from Shenzhen North to Wenzhou South (Wenzhounan), taking 7 hours.

From Wenzhou to Hong Kong: Take a train from Wenzhou South Railway Station (Wenzhounan) to Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei) first, taking 7 hours, then connect to a high speed train to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, taking 20 mins.

Reminder: Wenzhou has two major train stations: Wenzhou South Station (Wenzhounan) & Wenzhou Railway Station (Wenzhou). Don’t get confused with them. Both can be reached by  Line S1.
