Zhangjiajie – Fenghuang by High Speed Train
Zhangjiajie – Fenghuang high speed trains will be available as the Zhangjiajie – Jishou – Huaihua High Speed Rail is scheduled to open by the end of 2021, allowing travelers to experience Zhangjiajie’s Wulingyuna and Tianmenshan Forest Park as well as the Fenghuang Ancient Town by high speed train. The trains will use Zhangjiajie’s high speed rail station – Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, which is 5km from city center,and use Fenghuang Railway Station near the Fenghuang Ancient Town. Besides, the high speed train will also call at Furong Railway Station, which is near Furong Town, a charming town famous for its waterfall. It will finally terminate at Huaihua South Railway Station, from where passengers can transfer by high speed trains to Changsha, Kunming, Guiyang, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guilin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Nanchang, Hangzhou, Shanghai, etc.

Zhangjiajie West Railway Station
Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (ZhangjiajieXi) is a newly opened train station north of Zhangjiajie (Zhangjiajie has two train stations for passenger service. The other one is Zhangjiajie Railway Station), with high speed trains to or from Changsha Railway Station Line 2 Line 3 (Changsha to Zhangjiajie by train). There are bus linking Zhangjiajie West with Tianmenshan Forest Park and Wulingyuan Forest Park (see Zhangjiajie West Station to Wulingyuan by bus).
In May of 2020, Zhangjiajie West Railway Station has launched bus services to or from Wulingyuan Bus Station, which is just 1 kilometers from Wulingyuan National Forest Park’s entrance gate. The buses departs from Zhangjiajie High Speed Rail Bus Station (next to Zhangjiajie West) and arrive at Wulingyuan Bus Station in just 40 minutes.

Fenghuang Railway Station
Fenghuang Railway Station is still under construction and will open for service along with the openning of Zhangjiajie – Jishou – Huaihua High Speed Rail by the end of 2021. It is located near Fenghuang Ancient Town, and there will be medium-low speed maglev trains linking Fenghuang Railway Station with Fenghuang Ancient Town.
Zhangjiajie – Fenghuang via Jishou by Normal Trains
Before the Zhangjiajie – Fenghuang high speed trains start running at the end of 2021, the only way to travel between Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang by train is via Jishou. There are about 8 daily K or T type normal trains running between Zhangjiajie Railway Station and Jishou Railway Station, taking 2 – 3.5 hours. From Jishou, there are frequent buses running from Jishou North Bus Station to Fenghuang Bus Station.
From Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang: Take one of the 8 daily T or K trains to Jishou Railway Station first, taking 2 – 3.5 hours. Then, walk from Jishou Railway Station to Jishou North Bus Station for just 1km to catch a bus to Fenghuang.
Zhangjiajie – Fenghuang by Bus
Bus is the best way to travel between Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang Ancient Town before the high speed trains linking Zhangjiajie West Railway Station and Fenghuang Railway Station start running. You can either travel by bus from Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station (centrally-located next to Zhangjiajie Railway Station) to Fenghuang Bus Station, or go direct by bus from Wulingyuan Bus Station (near Wulingyuan Forest Park) to Fenghuang Bus Station.
