Mount Huangshan – Shanghai by High Speed Train

Introduction

Traveling between Shanghai and Huangshan by high-speed train is a convenient and efficient option for foreign tourists exploring the beauty of Yellow Mountain.

All high-speed trains to Huangshan arrive at Huangshan North Station (Huangshanbei), which is approximately 50 km  from the southern gate of Huangshan Scenic Area, located in Tangkou. To reach the scenic area from Huangshan North Station, you can take a shuttle bus from the adjacent Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub. The bus fare to Tangkou is ¥23, and the journey takes about 50 minutes.

There are 15 daily high-speed train services from Shanghai to Huangshan. 3 of these depart from Shanghai Station, while the remaining 12 depart from Shanghai Hongqiao Station. All trains stop at Huangshan North Station. The journey takes between 2 hours 22 minutes to 3 hours 27 minutes

For the return trip, there are 14 daily high-speed train services from Huangshan to Shanghai. All depart from Huangshan North Station (Huangshanbei), with two arriving at Shanghai Station and the remaining 12 at Shanghai Hongqiao Station. The journey duration and ticket prices are similar to the outbound trip.

Bus to Tangkou from Huangshan North

Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub
From Huangshan North Station to Tangkou, you can take the bus from the nearby Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub, which runs from 8:00 to 20:20 every day, every 30 minutes in peak season and every hour in low season, the fare is 23 yuan per person, and the journey takes 50 minutes.

Huangshan North Railway Station

Huangshan North Station (Huangshanbei Station) is located in Xixi South Town, Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It opened on June 28, 2015, along with the Hefei – Fuzhou High Speed Railway Line. The station is about 10 km from the old Huangshan Railway Station, 11 km from Tunxi District (the city government location), 50 km from Huangshan Scenic Area, and only 7 km from Tunxi International Airport.

If you want to travel by train to Huangshan, you need to know that there are three train stations in Huangshan City:

Among them, Huangshan North Station and Huangshan West Station are high-speed train stations, while Huangshan Station is a old train station for slow trains. Huangshanxi Station is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2024.

Shanghai Hongqiao Station & Shanghai Station

Shanghai Hongqiao Station is located at 1500 Shengui Road, Minhang District, Shanghai. Passengers can take Shanghai Metro Lines 2, 10, or 17 to reach Shanghai Hongqiao Station.

Shanghai Railway Station is located in Jing’an District on Moling Road, adjacent to the Shanghai Long-Distance Bus Terminal.  Passengers can take Shanghai Metro Lines 1, 3, or 4 to reach Shanghai Station.
