How to Get from Lijiang to Xishuangbanna

Introduction

Traveling between Lijiang (丽江) and Xishuangbanna (西双版纳) by high-speed train involves a connection at Kunming Railway Station (昆明火车站) or Kunming South Station (昆明南站). Although there are no direct trains between the two destinations (Lijiang & Xishuangbanna), the journey offers travelers an opportunity to experience China’s modern rail network and to visit the capital of Yunnan Province, Kunming, en route.

You can take a high speed train from Lijiang Railway Station to Kunming Railway Station or Kunming South Station first, then change to another train to Xishuangbanna Railway Station.

Xishuangbanna Station serves trains to Pu’er, Yuxi, Kunming, Mohan, Mengla, even Chengdu, Leshan, Emei, as well as international trains to Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, Boten in Laos.

There are two major train stations in Kunming: the old one is Kunming Railway Station and the new one is Kunming South Railway Station (Kunmingnan). While Kunming South serves more trains to major cities outside Yunnan.
