There are two major train stations in Kunming: the old one is Kunming Railway Station and the new one is Kunming South Railway Station (Kunmingnan). Kunming Railway Station seves trains to major cities within Yunnan Province as well as a few destinations beyond Yunnan, such as Nanning, Guangzhou, Liuzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing. While Kunming South serves more trains to major cities outside Yunnan.

Puer Railway Station (Puer) is a railway station in Pu’er City of Yunnan Province, Southwest of China. The station is an intermedial station of Yuxi – Mohan Railway, serving trains to or from Kunming, Kunming South, Huanian, Yuanjiang, Mojiang, Xishuangbanna, Yuxi, Mengla, Mohan, etc. It even has trains to Leshan, Meishan and Chengdu South in Sichuan Province. The station is about 6 km from central Puer City, and 3.4 km from Pu’er Simao Airport.
