Shenzhen / Hong Kong to Yiwu via Guangzhou: by High Speed Train

Shenzhen – Yiwu by High Speed Train

No high speed trains linking directly Shenzhen and Yiwu currently, but only 2 daily T type trains available. If you still want to travel between Shenzhen and Yiwu by high speed train, you will have to make a transfer at Guangzhou’s South Railway Station, from where there are 4 daily G type high speed trains running from Guangzhou to Yiwu, and 3 daily G type high speed train leaving from Yiwu to Guangzhou.

From Shenzhen to Yiwu: You need to make a transfer at Guangzhou South Station. First, take a high speed train from Shenzhen North Station (79 trains daily) to Guangzhou South Station, which will take you 30-40 minutes and cost CNY74.5 for a second class seat OR you can also leave from Shenzhen Futian Station (40 trains daily) to Guangzhou South Station, taking 40-50 minutes and costing from CNY82. All that depends on which train station is more close to your hotel. When at Guangzhou South Station, you need to change to another high speed train (4 daily, see Guangzhou to Yiwu train page) to Yiwu Train Station. It is easy to make a transfer at Guangzhou South. Just follow the transfer sign and remember to allow you about 30-40 minutes for making the transfer.

From Yiwu to Shenzhen: Fist take one of the 3 daily high speed train from Yiwu Train Station to Guangzhou South Station first, then change to another high speed train from Guangzhou South to Shenzhen North Station or Shenzhen Futian Station. Remember to allow 40 minutes connection time in Guangzhou South Station for making the transfer.

China train tickets can be bought online 30 days or less in advance at the official site https://www.12306.cn/, where you can also check the live schedule and ticket availability. But the official site is in Chinese only. You can also buy ticket yourself at any train stations in Yiwu or Shenzhen or Guangzhou or any other cities of China no matter which city you are in or which destination city you are going to. All that can be done in one city’s any train station.

Shenzhen – Yiwu by Overnight Train

If you want to save your money, then you can use the overnight train to travel between Shenzhen and Yiwu, which offers you comfortable sleepers. There are 2 daily overnight trains running between Shenzhen and Yiwu using Shenzhen Train Station and Yiwu Train Station, taking about 15-16 hours and costing from 333.5 in a hard sleeper.

From Shenzhen to Yiwu: I would suggest you to use T102 train, which departs at 16:02 in the afternoon and arrives at Yiwu at 08:00 in the morning of the next day, which saves you a hotel bill and allows you enough time to explore in Yiwu.

From Yiwu to Shenzhen: Both of the daily trains are ok. T211departs at 14:54 and arrives at 06:22 of next day’s morning. And T101 departs at 16:32 and arrives at 08:15 in the morning of next day.

Hong Kong – Yiwu by Train

Currently, there are no high speed trains linking Hong Kong and Yiwu, and you will have to make a transfer at Shenzhen & Guangzhou, from where you can take high speed trains to or from Yiwu at Guangzhou South Station, or overnight trains to or from Yiwu at Shenzhen.

From Hong Kong to Yiwu: Fist take Hong Kong’s MTR service the East Rail Line to Lok Ma Chau station, from where you get across the border control and walk into Shenzhen side’s Futian Checkpoint metro station to take Shenzhen metro line 4 to Shenzhen North Railway Station or Shenzhen Futian Station (by line 2 and 3, a transfer is needed). Then take a bullet train from Shenzhen to Guangzhou South Station to catch one of the 4 daily high speed trains to Yiwu.

From Yiwu to Hong Kong: First, take a high speed train from Yiwu Train Station to Guangzhou South Station first, then a connecting high speed train to Shenzhen North Station or Shenzhen Futian Station, from where you can Shenzhen’s metro line to Futian Checkpoint metro stop and walk into the Lok Ma Chau station in Hong Kong side. From Lok Ma Chau, you can take the MTR service to Hong Kong’s downtown.
