Starting from Sept 23 of 2018, there is only one daily direct high speed trains linking Hong Kong and Kunming, using Kunming South Railway Station and Hong KongWest Kowloon Station, taking about 7h38 and costing CNY750.5 in a second class seat, CNY1220 in a first class seat and CNY2287 in a Business Seat. The G312 from Hong Kong West Kowloon to Kunming South or G314 from Kunming South to HK West Kowloon will pass major cities of Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Guilin,and Guiyang.

Hong Kong – Guangzhou – Kunming:

From HK to Kunming: Take a high speed train from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guangzhou South (see Hong Kong to Guangzhou train page), then connected to a G or D type high speed train to Kunming South Train Station, which runs 17 times a day, takes about 6.5-9.5 hrs. From Kunming to HK: Take a high speed train from Kunming South to Guangzhou South, then a connecting high speed train to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.

Between Guangzhou South and Kunming South, which type high speed train to choose, D train or G train?

As you can see, there are two types of high speed trains (G and D trains) running between Guangzhou South and Kunming South. What are the difference between them? The fact is that the D high speed trains (13 daily)are running via Nanning while G trains (4 daily)are running via Guiyang.The D trains are cheaper on ticket fares but slower on train speed compared to G trains.
