Xipu Railway Station Chengdu

Xipu Railway Station (犀浦站, Xīpǔ Zhàn) is the gateway every traveler passes through to reach Dujiangyan by train — and it’s also China’s first cross-platform metro-to-railway transfer hub. Located in Chengdu’s Pidu District, it combines Metro Line 2, Metro Line 6, and the Chengdu–Dujiangyan Intercity Railway in a single building. You take the metro to Xipu, walk upstairs (or across the platform), and board a train straight to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, Mount Qingcheng, or the Panda Valley — no taxi ride across town needed.

Beyond Dujiangyan: Connecting to Chengdu Hubs

On a multi-stop Sichuan itinerary, you’ll often pass through Xipu on your way to or from Dujiangyan and then onward to elsewhere. Here’s how to connect from Xipu to Chengdu’s major rail stations and airports:

Hub Route from Xipu Time Fare
Chengdu East (成都东站) Metro Line 2 direct — 21 stops, alight at 成都东客站, Exit C. Alternatively, an intercity train from Xipu to Chengdu East runs occasionally (~20 min). ~50 min (metro) / ~20 min (train) ¥5–7 (metro)
Chengdu South (成都南站) Metro Line 2 → Tianfu Square → transfer to Line 1 (科学城/五根松 direction) → 火车南站. Or Line 2 → Yipintianxia (一品天下) → transfer to Line 7 outer loop → 火车南站. ~50–60 min ¥4–5
Shuangliu Airport (CTU / 双流机场) Metro Line 2 → Yipintianxia → transfer to Line 7 → Taipingyuan (太平园) → transfer to Line 10 → 双流机场2航站楼. Two transfers but all within the metro network. ~70 min ¥7
Tianfu Airport (TFU / 天府机场) Metro Line 2 → Tianfu Square → Line 1 → 火车南站 → transfer to Line 18 express (快车) → 天府机场1号2号航站楼. The Line 18 express takes ~37 min from South Station, bringing the total to about 1h 40min. Alternatively, take an intercity train to Chengdu East, then HSR direct to Tianfu Airport Station. ~1h 40min – 2h ¥12–13

Going Further: Leshan & Emeishan

The Leshan Giant Buddha (乐山大佛) and Mount Emei (峨眉山) are the classic Sichuan two-day combo after Dujiangyan. From Xipu there are two approaches:

Metro + HSR via Chengdu East/South (⭐ recommended): Take Metro Line 2 from Xipu to Chengdu East (~50 min, ¥5–7), then catch a high-speed train. Chengdu East to Leshan runs 40+ trains daily (46–60 min, ¥30–54); Chengdu East to Emeishan runs 10+ daily (~1h, ¥54–65). Total door-to-door about 2.5–3 hours, but you have far more departure choices. Budget 30 minutes for the transfer at Chengdu East — the metro exit and HSR waiting hall are in the same building.
