High-speed trains provide a convenient and efficient mode of transportation for exploring the holy Mount Huangshan from Hangzhou City.

The high-speed trains from Hangzhou to Huangshan stop at Huangshan North Station (Huangshanbei), which is approximately 50 km from the southern gate of Huangshan Scenic Area, Tangkou. To reach Tangkou, you can take a bus from the adjacent Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub for about 23 yuan, with a travel time of around 50 minutes.

From Huangshan to Hangzhou, there are 25 daily high-speed train services, all departing from Huangshan North Station. 15 of these trains arrive at Hangzhou East Station, 8 at Hangzhou West Station, and 2 at Hangzhou South Station. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 23 minutes to 2 hours and 4 minutes, with the same ticket prices as the Hangzhou to Huangshan route.

Bus to Tangkou from Huangshan North

Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub
From Huangshan North Station to Tangkou, you can take the bus from the nearby Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub, which runs from 8:00 to 20:20 every day, every 30 minutes in peak season and every hour in low season, the fare is 23 yuan per person, and the journey takes 50 minutes.

Huangshan North Railway Station

Huangshan North Station (Huangshanbei Station) is located in Xixi South Town, Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. It opened on June 28, 2015, along with the Hefei – Fuzhou High Speed Railway Line. The station is about 10 km from the old Huangshan Railway Station, 11 km from Tunxi District (the city government location), 50 km from Huangshan Scenic Area, and only 7 km from Tunxi International Airport.

If you want to travel by train to Huangshan, you need to know that there are three train stations in Huangshan City:

Among them, Huangshan North Station and Huangshan West Station are high-speed train stations, while Huangshan Station is a old train station for slow trains. Huangshanxi Station is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2024.

Hangzhou’s Railway Hubs

Hangzhou boasts four major railway hubs: Hangzhou East Station, Hangzhou West Station, Hangzhou Station, and Hangzhou South Station.

Hangzhoudong Station

Hangzhou East Station (Hangzhoudong Railway Station) is located at No. 2 Quanfuqiao Road, Shangcheng District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is the most comprehensive transportation hub in Hangzhou. The station has 15 platforms, 28 platform faces, and 30 tracks, with provisions for a future maglev line. Construction began on April 1, 1992, and the station was expanded and renovated on December 27, 2008. The revamped Hangzhou East Station commenced operations on July 1, 2013.

Hangzhou East by Metro:

  • Travelers can take Metro Lines 1 and Line 4 to reach Hangzhou East Railway Station.
  • Metro Lines 6 and Line 19 also serve the station, with a separate station called “East Railway Station (East Square)”.

Hangzhouxi Station

Hangzhou West Station (Hangzhouxi Railway Station) is located in Cangqian Street, Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It serves as a junction for the Hangzhou–Huangshan Intercity Railway and the Hangzhou–Wenzhou High-Speed Railway. The station opened on September 22, 2022, and has 11 platforms and 20 tracks. The total built-up area is approximately 510,000 square meters, equivalent to about 70 standard football fields. From Hangzhou West Station, travelers can take high-speed trains to destinations such as Huangshan, Nanjing, Hefei, Qiandao Lake, Lianyungang, Fuyang, Yancheng, and others, as well as trains to Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Chongqing, Chengdu, Nanchang, Xiamen, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

Hangzhou West by Metro:

  • Below Hangzhou West Station is the Train West Station metro stop, where travelers can transfer to two metro lines: Metro Line 3 and Metro Line 19.

Hangzhounan Station

Located at No. 238 Zhanqian Road, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou South Station has been transformed into a hub with 7 platforms and 21 tracks, featuring east and west squares. It integrates high-speed trains, regular trains, metro, buses, and long-distance coaches. Currently, six railway lines pass through Hangzhou South Station, including the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway (Hangzhou–Changsha section), Hangzhou–Ningbo High-Speed Railway, Shanghai–Kunming Railway, Xiaoshan–Ningbo Railway, and the Xiaoshan–Zhejiang Liaison Line, covering various directions such as Ningbo, Jinhua, and Shanghai.

Hangzhou South Station has two squares, east and west. The east square, serving as the main square, includes a hub control center, a bus hub station, and interchange for Metro Lines 5 and Line 11. In the future, it will be the primary transportation distribution square for Hangzhou South Station.
