Dujiangyan Railway Station (都江堰站, Dūjiāngyàn Zhàn) is a ground-level station about 6 km from the scenic area, but it’s the busiest stop on the Chengdu–Dujiangyan line — with 3–4 times more trains than Lidui Park Station. If Lidui Park Station is sold out, you’re coming from beyond Chengdu, or you want a later return after the South Bridge night view, this is your station. Opened in 2010 as one of the original stops on the line, it’s also set to become the transfer hub for the future Siguniang Mountain (四姑娘山) mountain railway.

Getting Here from Chengdu
The route is identical to Lidui Park’s — Metro Line 2 or 6 to Xipu (犀浦站), same-station transfer to an S-class or C-class train. The difference is what you get after buying the ticket:
- Far more trains: Dujiangyan Station sees roughly 65–80 trains per day, vs. ~20 for Lidui Park. During peak hours, trains depart every 15 minutes — you rarely need to plan around a specific departure.
- Same fare: ¥5–10, same as Lidui Park. Tianfutong (天府通) tap-and-ride also works here.
How to Get to the Scenic Area
This station is ~6 km from the Dujiangyan Irrigation System — you’ll need a short ride. Here are your options:
- 🚕 Taxi / Didi (⭐ Recommended): 15–20 minutes, ¥17–26. The fastest and most straightforward. Show the driver: 都江堰景区 (Dūjiāngyàn Jǐngqū). Taxis queue outside the station exit — you won’t wait long.
- 🚌 Bus 4 or Bus 9: 35–40 minutes, ¥2. Alight at “离堆公园站” bus stop (not the train station — it’s a bus stop named after the park) and walk ~350 m to the scenic area gate. Both buses stop right outside the train station at the “快铁都江堰站” bus stop.
- 🚌 Bus 6: ~40 minutes, ¥2. Alight at “公园路口” (Park Road Intersection), then walk ~500 m to the south gate.
Why You’d Pick This Station Over Lidui Park
Lidui Park Station is the closest to the scenic area — and that’s usually the right choice. But Dujiangyan Station wins in several real-world scenarios:
- 🎫 Lidui Park is sold out — During holidays and peak weekends, Lidui Park’s ~20 daily trains disappear fast. Dujiangyan Station has 3–4× the capacity. The trip costs ~¥20 more in taxi fare, but you still get to Dujiangyan.
- 🌃 Staying for the night view — The South Bridge “Blue Tears” illumination runs 20:00–23:00. Lidui Park’s last return train is ~21:55, which means leaving the bridge by 21:30. Dujiangyan Station’s last train to Xipu is around 23:09 — you get the full experience and a relaxed walk back to the station.
- ✈️ Catching an early flight — Dujiangyan Station’s first morning departure (~06:30) beats Lidui Park’s by a comfortable margin, giving you a better shot at making a morning flight from Chengdu.
- ⛰️ Heading to Qingcheng Mountain afterward — Dujiangyan Station and Qingchengshan Station are on the same main line, just one stop apart (~8 km). You can do the irrigation system in the morning, return to Dujiangyan Station, and be at Qingcheng Mountain in 10 minutes.
If you’re coming from Chengdu on a normal day and Lidui Park tickets are available, take Lidui Park — it’s the closest station to the scenic area, a 10-minute walk. This page covers the full comparison between the two.
Onward: Leshan, Emeishan & Airports
Dujiangyan Station’s main-line position and high train frequency make it the better departure point for onward travel:
| Destination | Best Route | Time | Why Dujiangyan Station? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leshan (乐山) | Direct C-class trains to Leshan (乐山站) run occasionally; otherwise Xipu → metro → Chengdu East → train to Leshan. | 2–3 hrs | More direct-train options and more frequent connections to Xipu than Lidui Park |
| Emeishan (峨眉山) | Direct trains to Emeishan (峨眉山站) run occasionally; otherwise Xipu → Chengdu South/East → Emeishan. | 2.5–3 hrs | Same advantage — main-line trains to Emeishan stop here, not at Lidui Park |
| Qingcheng Mountain (青城山) | Dujiangyan to Qingchengshan train, frequently | 10 min | Same main line — dead simple hop |
| Shuangliu Airport (CTU) | Direct trains to Shuangliu Airport Station (双流机场站) run occasionally; otherwise Xipu → Chengdu South/East → airport. | 1.5–2 hrs | First train at ~06:30 works for morning flights |
| Tianfu Airport (TFU) | Train to Xipu → metro/train to Chengdu East → Metro Line 18 or HSR to Tianfu Airport Station. No direct trains from Dujiangyan. | 2.5–3 hrs | See: Dujiangyan to Tianfu Airport Guide |
🚧 Future: Siguniang Mountain Railway
The Dujiangyan–Siguniangshan Mountain Railway (都四山地轨道交通) is under construction and will make Dujiangyan Station its eastern transfer hub. When complete, you’ll be able to take a mountain sightseeing train from here directly to Siguniang Mountain (四姑娘山) — Sichuan’s “Queen of Mountains” with alpine scenery at 4,000–6,000 m elevation — without needing a long bus ride from Chengdu. The project is expected to significantly increase Dujiangyan Station’s importance as a tourism transfer point. No confirmed opening date yet, but it’s worth knowing about if you’re planning a future trip.
