How to travel Hong Kong & Yichang by train
There is no direct trains running between Hong Kong & Yichang (in Hubei Province), and you will have to make a transfer at Wuhan Station or Guangzhou South

There are 2 train stations in Yichang: Yichang Station & Yichang East. Yichang East is the most used for high speed trains.
- Route 1: Yichang East – Guangzhou South – HK West Kowloon (recommended)
- Route 2: Yichang East – Wuhan – HK West Kowloon
Route 1. Yichang – Hong Kong via Guangzhou
Since there are no direct trains linking Yichang with Hong Kong, so the best way is to make a transfer at Guangzhou South (Yichang East – Guangzhou South – HK West Kowloon), from where there are numerous trains to Hong Kong & Yichang East.

From Yichang to Hong Kong: Take one of the 5 daily morning train from Yichang East Railway Station (Yichangdong), and arrive at Guangzhou South Station (Guangzhounan), taking 7 hours. Then connect to a frequent high speed train to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, taking 1 hour. Just allow 40 minutes for connection time at Guangzhou South.
From Hong Kong to Yichang: Just take a train from HK West Kowloon to Guangzhou South (Guangzhounan), then a connecting train to Yichang East (Yichangdong).
Route 2: Yichang – Hong Kong via Wuhan
In addition to Guangzhou South, Wuhan Railway Station is also an ideal middle-station for making transfer., as Wuhan Railway Station has 20 daily trains from Yichang, and 2 daily trains to HK West Kowloon.
Tips: Also you need to allow 40 minutes at least for making the transfer at Wuhan Railway Station. There are several train stations in the city of Wuhan, and the one used for train to Hong Kong is Wuhan Railway Station.
