Shanghai East Railway Station

 Introduction

Shanghai East Railway Station (Shanghaidong), currently under construction in the Pudong New Area, is set to become the closest train station to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) upon its completion in 2027.As one of Shanghai’s four major railway hubs, it will feature 14 platforms and 30 tracks, making it the second-largest railway passenger station in the city, just behind Shanghai Hongqiao Station.

 Airport-to-Train Connectivity in 2027

Once operational, Shanghai East Railway Station will provide seamless connectivity for travelers arriving at Pudong Airport. Passengers will be able to disembark from their flights and transfer directly to high-speed trains, facilitating easy travel to downtown Shanghai and nearby cities such as Suzhou, Wuxi, and Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Yiwu, etc. This will significantly enhance the travel experience, allowing for efficient transfers between air and rail.

 Shanghai Airport Link Line (Pudong – Hongqiao)

Shanghai Airport Link Line, which is expected to open by the end of 2024, will connect Shanghai’s two major airports, Hongqiao and Pudong, cutting travel time between them to just 40 minutes. The Airport Link Line will also connect to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, allowing travelers to quickly transfer to high-speed trains destined for cities across China.
