How to Get to Qingdao Jiaodong Airport

Qingdao’s new airport – Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport (TAO) will be opened in middle of 2021. The airport is located 11 km northeast of Jiaozhou City, and 39 km northwest of Qingdao’s city center, serving as an international transport hub for Northeast Asia. Getting to the airport is easy, as Jiaodong Airport is connected into Qingdao’s metro network on line 8, which links the airport with Hongqiao Train Station, Qingdao North Station (Qingdaobei) as well as Qingdao’s landmark – May 4th Square. Besides, the airport also has a railway station – Qingdao Airport Railway Station (QingdaoJichang), which is connected into the national rail network on the Jinan – Qingdao high speed railway, Qingdao – Rongcheng Intercity Rail, and Qingdao – Lianyungang Railway. Passengers can take bullet trains from Jinan, Zibo, Weifang, Yantai, Weihai, Rizhao to Qingdao Jiaodong Airpport.

The 60.74-km metro line 8 was open for service on December 24 of 2020, linking Qingdao Jiaodong Airport (Jiaodong Jichang) with Jiaozhou North Station, Hongdao Station, Qingdao North Station, May 4th Square Station (Wusi Square), etc.

Qingdao North Train Station – Qingdao Jiaodong Airport by metro: You can take metro line 8 to travel between Qingdao Jiaodong Airport and Qingdao North Railway Station (Qingdaobei) in just 37 minutes.

May 4th Square – Qingdao Jiaodong Airport by metro: The metro line 8 links Jiaodong Airport with May 4th Square in just 55 minutes.

Qingdao Trai n Station – Qingdao Jiaodong Airport by metro: You just take metro line 3 from Qingdao Railway Station to Qingdao North Railway Station first, then connect to line 8 from Qingdao North to Jiaodong Airport. Journey time 1h20m.

Qingdao Jiaodong Airport has its own Airport – Rail link. The Qingdao Airport Railway Station, also called QingdaoJichang Railway Station, which is linked to Qingdao Jiaodong Airport, is connected into China’s national rail network, with direct high speed trains to or from Jinan, Weifang, etc. Qingdao Airport Railway Station will open with the Jiaodong Airport.

Jinan – Qingdao Jiaodong Airport: Just take a high speed train from Jinan West Railway Station (JinanXi) or Jinan East Railway Station (JinanDong) to QingdaoJichang Railway Station (Qingdao Airport Train Station), taking 2h50m.

Weihai – Qingdao Jiaodong Airport: You can just take a high speed train from Weihai Railway Station to QingdaoJichang Railway Station (Qingdao Airport Train Station) in 1.5 hours.

Rizhao – Qingdao Jiaodong Airport: Take a high speed train from Rizhao West Railway Station to QingdaoJichang Railway Station (Qingdao Airport Train Station) , taking 1.5 hours.
