Hong Kong and Quanzhou in Fujian Province, two popular tourist destinations in south China, are connected by high speed train that offers foreign travelers a comfortable and efficient mode of transport. Train travel between the two cities is a cost-effective and convenient option for foreign tourists.
Currently, there is only once daily direct train G3002 running between Hong Kong West Kowloon & Quanzhou Railway Station, taking 4h04. But if you make transfer at Shenzhen North or Xiamen, you will find more trains available.
- Route 1: Hong Kong West Kowloon – Quanzhou Station, 1 train daily
- Route 2: Hong Kong West Kowloon – Shenzhen North – Quanzhou, more trains recommended

1. Hong Kong – Quanzhou by direct train, 1 daily
As of April of 2023, there is a direct train service that operates daily between Hong Kong and Quanzhou. The train G3002 departs from West Kowloon station in Hong Kong and arrives at Quanzhou station. The journey takes approximately 4h04.
If you make a transfer at Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei), you will find more train depatures available. Just see route 2.

2. Hong Kong – Shenzhen – Quanzhou, more trains
If the direct train sells out, or the schedule doesn’t suit your time. You may consider making a transfer at Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei). From there, there are frequent high speed train services to or from Hong Kong West Kowloon and Quanzhou Railway Station. Just remember to allow surfficient time for making the transfer at Shenzhen north, ideally 40-50 minutes.

Which train station in Quanzhou
There are two major train stations in Quanzhou: Quanzhou Railway Station & Quanzhou East Railway Station.
The train from Hong Kong arrives at Quanzhou Railway Station. This station is located in the east of the city and has convenient connections to local transportation for passengers going to various destinations in Quanzhou.

Passing through Immigration & Customs
Since Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China, passengers crossing the border between Hong Kong and Mainland China have to go through customs and immigration procedures. All these procedures are taken place before boarding trains at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.

Tourists can purchase train tickets online from the official website www.12306.cn or on a mobile app of China Railway or Hong Kong MTR site. They can also buy tickets at the station by presenting their passport or ID card. Please note that it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during peak travel periods.

At station: You can buy tickets at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station or Quanzhou Railway Station or Quanzhou East Station in Quanzhou.
Book online: You can use China’s official rail booking site www.12306.cn or you can turn to use a trusted online ticket agent China Highlights http://www.chinahighlights.com/china-trains/, who has English version train schedule and will buy tickets for you once tickets are released online. The agent can help you select a window seat or aisle seat and even deliver tickets to your hotel. They will charge you service fee or delivery fee. You can place your order any time with them.
When to Book Tickets
In China, it is advisable to buy train tickets as early as possible, especially during peak travel seasons or holidays when tickets tend to sell out quickly. Generally, tickets become available for purchase 15 days prior to the departure date.
