Overview

There are 3 daily high speed trains are linking Hong Kong & Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, using Hong Kong West Kowloon Station (HKWestkowloon) & Changsha South Station (Changshanan). It takes about 3.5-4 hours to cover the 830-km journey.

If you make a transfer at Guangzhou South (Guangzhounan) or Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei), you will find numerous trains that suit your time.

 1. Hong Kong – Changsha Direct Trains, 3 daily

As of April of 2023, there are 3 daily high speed trains running between  Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Changsha South Railway Station (Changshanan), taking 3-3.5 hours.

 2. Hong Kong – Guangzhou – Changsha by Train, 100+ trains

If you make a transfer at Guangzhou South (Guangzhounan), you’ll find over a hundred trains running to or from Changsha South, and 26 trains to or from HK West Kowloon. Just remember to allow 45 minutes at least for making your train connecting at Guangzhou South Station.

When entering the gate, you need to show your two tickets (your previous trip and next trip) to the station staff (It depends). Then, they will let you come in.

 3. Hong Kong – Shenzhen – Changsha by Train, 50+ trains

In addition to making a transfer at Guangzhou South, you can also consider changing your train at Shenzhen North (Shenzhenbei), which has lots of trains to or from Hong Kong West Kowloon and Changsha South. Still, you need to allow 45 minutes at least for making the connection.
