Dongguan – Guangzhou Baiyun Airport Intercity Train

Your Quick Guide to Dongguan from Baiyun Airport by Intercity Train

Traveling from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) to Dongguan has become remarkably straightforward and efficient with the introduction of intercity rail services opened in October of 2025.

Jack will explains you how to do it as below:

Step 1. Finding Your Station at the Airport

Guangzhou Baiyun Airport (CAN) currently has three terminals, and each terminal is connected to a different airport railway station:

  • Terminal 1 → Airport South Station (Baiyunjichangnan Station – intercity rail)
  • Terminal 2 → Airport North Station (Baiyunjichangbei Station – intercity rail)
  • Terminal 3 → Airport East Station (Baiyunjichangdong Station – intercity rail, newly opened)

All three stations are part of the Guangzhou East Ring Intercity Railway, and trains to Dongguan depart frequently throughout the day. The stations are located inside or next to the terminal transportation hubs, making transfers quick and straightforward.

  • Use Baiyunjichangbei as Baiyun Airport North (T2) to search the train schedule.
  • Use Baiyunjichangnan as Baiyun Airport South (T1) to search the train schedule.
  • Use Baiyunjichangdong as Baiyun Airport East (T3) to search the train schedule.

Step 2. Choosing Your Arrival Station in Dongguan

Dongguan has several intercity railway stations, but for most travelers, a few stand out due to their convenience and location. Below are the recommended stations:

1. Best for downtown: Xipingxi Station

  • 1. Best for City Center & Top Recommendation: Xiping West (Xipingxi) Station
    • This is the primary gateway to downtown Dongguan.
    • It is the only station in Dongguan served by Express Trains from the airport, with the fastest journey taking approximately 61 minutes.
    • It conveniently serves the Nancheng and Dongcheng districts, which are the city’s central business and commercial hubs.
    • From here, you can easily connect to the Dongguan Metro.
  • Other major stations include Dongguan West (东莞西) (serving the watertown area) and Songshanhu North (松山湖北) (serving the tech-centric Songshan Lake area). However, for a first-time visitor heading to the city center, Xipingxi Station  is your best bet.

2. The Fastest Stop & Western Hub: Dongguan West Station (Dongguanxi)

If speed is your absolute priority and your destination is in the western part of Dongguan (like Hongmei or Wangniudun), then Dongguan West Station offers the shortest travel time (approx. 60 minutes). This station acts as a major interchange hub for the region.

3. The Tech & Nature Stop: Songshan Lake North Station (Songshanhubei)

If you are visiting the famous Songshan Lake Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone or the natural scenic areas nearby, alight at Songshan Lake North Station. This is also an Express Stop, with travel time around 80-90 minutes.
