Pingyao Gucheng Railway Station (or Pingyao Ancient City Station, 平遥古城站), originally called Pingyao East Railway Station, is one of the two train stations in Pingyao (the other one is Pingyao Railway Station, 平遥站 in Chinese) . The station is located southwest of Pingyao Ancient City and open for service since July, 2014.
The station with 2 platforms and 4 rail lines is serving as an intermediate stops along the Datong – Xi’an Passenger Dedicated High Speed Rail Line, and operating D trains (high-speed) to and from Beijing West, Xi’an North, Taiyuan South, etc.

How to Get to Pingyao Ancient City Scenic Spot from Gucheng Station
By Bus No.108 (from 7:00 to 20:30, CNY 3 / Person)
As Pingyao Gucheng Railway Station is 8 km from Pingyao Ancient City, travelers can take the Bus No.108 from the bus station (大西高铁 – 平遥古城站) and get down at Kuixingyuan Bus Station (魁星苑小区) near the south gate of the ancient city.

Beijing – Pingyao – Xi’an High Speed Train Travel
If you are planning a Beijing – Xi’an High Speed Train Travel, Pingyao would be a good destination on a short break. I have seen quite many foreign tourists doing the Beijing – Pingyao – Xi’an train trip. But please note that this train route is quite hot, and you’d better book train tickets as early as possible (60 days ahead online or 58 days ahead if booking at station).
You can reach Pingyao by D or G trains from Beijing West in around 4 hours, and from Xi’an North in around 3 hours.
