It is a key station that serves as a hub for two major railway lines: the Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Line and the Qingdao-Yantai Railway. It opened for passenger service on July 1, 2023, and currently has 16 passenger trains daily that stop at the station, connecting Qingdao with other cities such as Shanghai, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Rizhao, and Linyi.

From Hongdao Railway Station, you can travel by bullet trains to cities within Shandong Province like Jinan, Qufu, Linyi, Weifang, Qingdao North, Qingdao West, etc.
For long distance trains, you can travel to Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Huaian, etc. More train destinations will be added in the future.
What makes Hongdao Railway Station special?
Hongdao Railway Station is the first and only railway station in China that has a sea view. The station building faces the Jiaozhou Bay, and is less than two kilometers away from the sea. The station building was designed by Cheng Taining, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who incorporated the theme of “surging waves” into the exterior design, reflecting the marine culture of Qingdao. The station building has a “工” shape layout, and covers an area of about 70,000 square meters. The station also has a sightseeing platform, where passengers can enjoy the sea view while waiting for their trains.
How to get to and from Hongdao Railway Station?
Hongdao Railway Station is well-connected with other modes of transportation. You can easily transfer to the Qingdao Metro Line 8, Line 10 (planned), Line 12 (planned), and several bus lines at the station. The national railway lines are located on the ground level, while the metro lines are located underground. There are waiting halls on both levels, and the national railway and metro are connected internally, allowing you to switch between them without hassle. Outside the station square, there are also a metro hub control center, a highway bus station, and a city bus station.
