Phase 1: The High-Speed Rail from Putian
Your journey begins at Putian Railway Station (莆田站). This station is served by numerous high-speed trains (designated as ‘G’ or ‘D’) heading north towards Fuzhou.
- Target Destination: You must book a ticket to Fuzhou Railway Station (福州站), not Fuzhou South (Fuzhou Nan). Fuzhou Railway Station is the main transport hub and the starting point for the new Binhai Express Line (F1) to the airport (opened in Sept of 2025).
- Travel Time and Frequency: The HSR journey is remarkably quick, typically taking around 35 – 60 minutes to travel between the two cities. Trains are frequent throughout the day.
- Ticket & Cost: Second-class seats generally cost between ¥35 and ¥50. To ensure a smooth transfer, book your HSR ticket well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, using the official 12306 app or a trusted booking agent. Remember to bring your passport, as it is required for entry and ticket verification at the station.

Phase 2: The Critical Metro Transfer (F1 Line)
Upon arrival at Fuzhou Railway Station, you need to navigate to the Binhai Express Line (F1) metro entrance.
- Connection: Follow the clear English and Chinese signs for the “Binhai Express Line” or “F1.” This dedicated line is designed to connect the city center directly to the airport.
- Binhai Express F1 Route: Take the Binhai Express F1 Line. Your stop is the one: Airport Station (机场站).
- Metro Travel Time and Cost: The express metro journey to FOC is efficient, taking approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The fare is typically around ¥17 RMB.
Phase 3: Total Journey Timing and Airport Buffer

- Total Travel Time: The entire rail and metro journey from the Putian HSR departure to the FOC Airport Station is about 1 hour and 45 minutes of pure travel time.
