How to Get from Dujiangyan to Jiuzhaigou / Huanglong

Introduction

Option 1: By train via Chengdu

Although there is a direct bus from Dujiangyan to Jiuzhaigou (7-9 hours), it is generally recommended to return to Chengdu and then take a high-speed train from Chengdu East (Chengdudong) to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, which can be more reliable and comfortable. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Travel from Dujiangyan to Chengdu

  1. Departure: Take a train from either Dujiangyan Station or Liduigongyuan Station (Lidui Park Station) to Xipu Station first.
  2. Train to Xipu Station: The train to Xipu Station takes approximately 30 minutes.
  3. Metro to Chengdu East Station: From Xipu Station, transfer to Metro Line 2 and head to Chengdu East Station.

Step 2: High-Speed Train to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station

After arriving at Chengdu East, just look for a train to Huanglongjiuzhai Railway Station.

Step 3: Bus from Huanglong Jiuzhai Station to Jiuzhaigou / Huanglong

Once arriving in Huanglongjiuzhai Station after disembarking from the train, you need to catch a through bus from Huanglongjiuzhai to either Jiuzhaigou Valley or the Huanglong Scenic Area.

If you prefer a more straightforward route without returning to Chengdu, you can take a direct bus from Dujiangyan to Jiuzhaigou. Here are the details:

  2. Bus Schedule: The only direct bus departs at 10:10 AM.
  3. Travel Time: The journey can take between 7 to 9 hours, depending on road conditions.
  4. Ticket Price: The fare is 149 yuan.
  5. Return Trip: If you need to return, the bus from Jiuzhaigou to Dujiangyan departs at 8:30 AM.
