We ordered train tickets for two trips
We ordered train tickets for two trips, one to Beijing, and to Hangzhou, in March 2024, both from Shanghai and several weeks before the opening of the ticket sales. In both cases it worked flawlessly, we received the booking confirmations on the first day of ticketing opening, and according to our order. Travel only required a passport, no e-ticket, no print-out needed (just go to the counter with a staff member present; both at security and at the train access gate). In summary, no reason to worry at all, very easy and convenient. Depending on the day of travel would recommend to be at the railway station 50mins prior, just to avoid any stress.
